The Colston Arms Case Study

Background

The Colston Arms is a traditional pub located in the heart of Bristol.

The pub, owned by parent company Admiral Taverns, was taken over by landlord Paul Frost in 2014.  As well as a fully licensed bar it prides itself on an excellent food offering and caters for events throughout the year.  In 2018 Admiral Taverns awarded it as one of its “Pubs of the Year”.

The landlord was seeking an accountant to support its business and wanted to work with one that had proven experience of the licenced trade.  Admiral Taverns have a longstanding relationship with Everett King and recommended them to the landlord based on such experience in the licensed trade sector.

The Service and Solution

Everett King have worked with The Colston Arms since 2014 and provide a range of services to include bookwork, payroll, stocks and valuations, year-end accounts and management consultancy.  When the client took over the lease of The Langton Court Hotel in St. Anne’s, including undertaking with Star Bar a £500k refurbishment, Everett King provided consultancy throughout the process and continues to support the business with its future growth plans.

A comprehensive stocktaking service is provided which informs the clients on wet and dry pricing, profit improvement and waste reduction initiatives as well as providing year-end valuations.

“The management consultancy service is a critical service for us and helps to keep the business on track and ultimately increase turnover. Working with Everett King has made a positive impact on our business and through their services helps us to grow.”
